Amid the noise, there is a clear signal from the IEA’s World Energy Outlook: the energy transition is underway. Clean energy is surging – solar up 344% and wind nearly doubling by 2035 – and fossil fuel demand will peak around 2030 if governments stick to their pledges, if we hold our nerve. (1/7)

As COP30 begins in Belém, we mark ten years since the Paris Agreement. It has reshaped the global economy – doubling clean-energy investment, pushing renewables past coal, and bending the projected warming curve. (1/10)

Welcome to Act II of the energy transition.

In Act I we spent 20 years transforming the electricity sector. Developing the technologies, implementing the policies and building the European champions that have delivered a power sector that is 73% clean and growing.

Six months ago, the same voices were calling for “simplification.” Now they want to scrap the framework entirely. What changed? (1/7)

Trump has declared war on wind and solar power. It’s time for the industries to fight back.
Wind and solar are the cheapest power sources being added to the grid. But now under attack during Trump 2.0, the industries must build political power to preserve their future.

EU and China are both key to the global green-tech race. Instead of defensive policies, Europe should partner with China on standards, investment, and innovation—balancing economic interests for a faster, fairer climate transition.

Europe may have avoided a trade war – but at what cost?

The US keeps the tariffs on key European exports, while Europe commits to deeper trade and investment ties with a country whose economic policy is increasingly made between rounds of golf. (1/7)

In order to keep global warming below 1.5C or 2C, we need to move industrial activity to clean energy. This will MORE THAN DOUBLE our global need for electricity.

We are going to need a LOT more wind, solar, geothermal, and other clean electricity than most people are expecting.

Electrification means European energy for European homes and industry.
It means energy security.
It means we invest in ourselves rather than those who would do us harm.
It means fewer emissions, more jobs and more control of our destiny.
It is the make or break challenge of the next decade.
China is on track to become the world’s first major “electrostate,” with its electrification rate reaching 30 percent.

This puts China ahead of both the EU and the US, where the proportion of electricity in total energy use has remained steady at about 22 percent in recent years.

Did you know that electricity is often taxed more than fossil fuels in the EU?

It’s a policy choice that makes electrification less competitive.
