Curious, bibliophile, political centre-left. Love to laugh and exchange ideas. Creaky old lady. Favourite band - Travelling Wilburys.
I have been trying to read the fantasy novel 'Gideon the Ninth' for some time. I know fantasy worlds have some of their own vocabulary but a character who 'sat on a bench polishing his targe with a soft cloth' just made me laugh. I've given up.

I've just been given a birthday present subscription to the Private Eye printed magazine @privateeyenews.bsky.social and loved the front page. The start of the Musk/Trump bromance was:
Musk: I love you
Trump: I love me too

Just saw a clip from a routine by the American comedian George Carlin in which he says that the only way you can have the American Dream is because you're asleep 😏

I'll be 75 soon. All through my life I have tried to support any organisation or political party which protects the vulnerable. I now find it difficult to stop hating the US government. Hate kills and I don't want to die. I need vodka (Polish!) 😪

Republicans red
Senators weak dilly dilly
Democracy's dead

Be strong, be brave, be fearless.
You are never alone, dear President Zelenskyy.

We will continue working with you for a just and lasting peace.

Word of the day, for the umpteenth time, is ‘apricate’, the sister of ‘apricity’. It means to bask in the warmth of the sun, especially on a chilly day.

Wisdom from Ghandi:

When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and, for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it - always.

Years ago when I was working and had a particularly trying day, when I came home I would play 'In the hall of the mountain king' by Grieg at full volume and dance wildly and/or conduct the music. What was/is your de-stressor?

With Trump's and Putin's imperialist vomit, I'm reminded of a question in my history exam so many years ago. "If Hitler had stopped after Czechoslovakia, would WW2 have happened?"
I think it would. You cannot appease megalomanics.

Make no mistake. Every politician, pundit & online grifter amplifying Musk's dangerous lies will be aware of this intervention by now. Make no mistake, they are choosing to mislead the public & politicise the suffering of victims in the shameful pursuit of political advantage, attention & clicks.
