Ed Davey - “It is alarming that the government is happy to negotiate with China but won’t even look at a better trading arrangement with our closest neighbours in Europe. This is an act of economic negligence."

It is a catastrophic strategic misjudgement.

Time to exit this climate “road to ruin”, warns UN secretary general

Will 2025 see decisive climate action globally, or will we continue to waste valuable time to act?

Simply this.

America is descending fast - and we need to ensure it does not pull down the rest of the world with it.

Particularly in Europe, we need to regroup and operate without the US.

A reminder of our daftness.
Two decades together.
With the enlargement of 2004, we became a bigger and stronger political, economic and cultural Union – creating more opportunities for citizens across the EU.
This wasn’t just the birth of a larger Union; it was the birth of a new era.

Meanwhile over in “the other place” a Reform party MP is actually threatening to shut down the BBC - a public service broadcaster - because a political satire show made fun of party leader NigelFarage

We can never allow this dangerous bunch anywhere near power

This is a real post from a Reform MP, threatening to shut down the BBC because a political humour show made fun of Farage. (As if it's never made fun of other parties' MPs). This man is a disturbing authoritarian who should never hold power.
Well I’ve never seen anyone threaten Have I Got News aggressively before like think I on X.. very sinister 👇🏼😳

So in a Reform controlled Britain with Oberführer #30pLee in Govt current affairs humour would presumably be verboten.. along with free thinking 🥴

It's puzzling that many people pretend to be shocked at how badly the media are treating Labour.

They can't actually be shocked. We all knew that British media skews right wing.

(There is a big difference between shock, which involves surprise, and anger. It's fine to be angry. But not surprised.)

If you bring central London to a halt in order to campaign against catastrophic climate change then you're a "barmy" eco "fanatic" who deserves to be locked up.

If you do the same to hang on to your multimillion pound inheritance tax exemption then you're a brave freedom fighter defying the odds

Thoughts on "echo chambers."

Twitter was one anyway and had, in fact, become a gigantic echo chamber in itself - full of racist arseholes shouting nonsense and sucking up to Musk.

If I'm in an echo chamber, I at least want to be surrounded by intelligent people saying interesting things.
