Even paid stuff can be hard… call your local high school officiating association and see if they have enough bodies to cover all of their assignments, never mind the little league that relies on volunteers.

Every 2 years there’s a roll call and this vote probably weighs as much as every other roll call of the session combined. That vote is the one for Speaker or majority leader. Too many otherwise educated and informed Democrats immensely undervalue this vote.

Except… does FEMA impact your day to day? No; but when you need it you need competence. Same with the FAA, Medicare, etc.

Its easy to only see the negative impacts of government b/c its direct (taxes) and ignore the indirect b/c we assume permanence: clean air, national parks, safe skies, etc.
