We all mostly agree that some things are for the public good and so should be free: schools, fire departments, road maintenance, police.

But other things "only benefit the individual" and so must cost money: food, shelter, medicine, therapy.

And then we complain about homeless people in our parks.

I don't know if Mamdani's idea of publicly-run grocery stores is necessarily the best way to solve food deserts but I'm also surprised how many people have a knee-jerk "that'll never work" reaction. Why can cities educate people but not feed them?

Cancelling all of Elon's contracts would only offset a little more than 1% of the deficit Trump's bill adds.

But hey, gotta start somewhere 👍

BTW the "deadline" that Kamala wants to "stress the importance of" is almost completely meaningless. The DNC has to report how much money they earn every month. If a month is lower than the previous month it looks kind of bad. But that's literally it. It doesn't affect how donations can be used.

We need Approval Voting (or RCV) like yesterday so I can support a political party that doesn't treat its supporters like big dumb bags of money. Show me the plan to fight Trump and his fascist goons, or get out of the way.

Except Project 2025 but like, they published that. It's not a secret. It seems like a bunch of christian nationalists have seized power and that's just, accurate.
