Novels in verse are so fascinating because they say so much with so few words

I figured out what was wrong with my WIP. I needed to delete the first two chapters and it solved many of my pacing issues.

This is of niche industry interest, but here goes:

The digital catalog platform most independent bookstores use to peruse and order new books for their stores (called Edelweiss) has jacked up their prices on publishers to catalog new titles 200-300%.

Why does this matter?

Olivia dean’s pen is so good!! My current favorite lyrics:
🎶 I’m not leaving
Just feel tightly squeezed in
Love needs breathing
I’m not his
I’m not hers
I’m not yours
All or nothing
I’m more
Can we still be something in between 🎶

Dear writers:

Write that story. Edit mercilessly. Send that email. Ignore the haters. Stay humble, but be confident. Get paid. Read a lot. Write despite your insecurities. Support others. Accept helpful criticism. Celebrate everything. Don't panic. Never quit. You got this.

I’m reading For Brown Girls with Sharp Edges and Tender Hearts and it’s so healing! I relate to so many of her experiences. This is a book I needed when I was in college. I’m glad it exists now.

Currently reading the Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois and it’s so good! The audiobook being 30 hours long almost stopped me from picking it up, but once I started, I was invested in the characters. Amazing writing!

Update: she read for 65 minutes yesterday. altogether, she’s read 195 minutes since the beginning of June. She’s definitely getting a squishmallow soon.

When she reaches 400 minutes, she’ll get a free book.
The librarians told my 7 year that she needed to read for 800 minutes to earn a squishmallow for the summer reading program and now she’s trying to read all 800 minutes today
