I read this morning that Penn Station serves more than 2x passengers per day as Atlanta Hartfield, the country’s busiest airport. So I had to map them at the same scale. 🤯

Noting, gently, that since the EO is not a national law passed by Congress, the word "aims" in the sentence is fundamentally important to understanding the actual immediate effect this will have on States and the state of AI.

The Devils Hole pupfish has the smallest-known range of any vertebrate: one small but deep pool.

It’s part of Death Valley National Park. The pool is fenced to protect the fish from vandals & destructive idiots.

And yes, we observed Devils Hole pupfish using binoculars.

Very interesting.
My students have been assessing the tools for our field, and the signs are that it is really good for coding qualitative data from an already vetted and contained data set. They pulled together really excellent evaluation plans including AI as an analysis tool.
There are lots of things wrong with AI but it is great for coding. I had the best set of undergraduate projects for my Election Data Science class this semester. I encouraged students to use AI for coding. They spent less time struggling with programming and more time asking and answering questions

I do try to remember to write out "artificial intelligence" when engaging with my students on AI, especially when talking about use in evaluation, data gathering, and analysis. I try to put an accent on 'artificial' when talking about it.
I’ve been running around asking tech execs and academics if language was the same as intelligence for over a year now - and, well, it isn’t. @benjaminjriley.bsky.social explains how the bubble is built on ignoring cutting-edge research into the science of thought www.theverge.com/ai-artificia...
