“The searing pain of the unfilled boots, / the solemn speeches, / the lowered ramp and the flag-draped coffin.” Read “I Remember,” a poem by William H. McRaven:

I kept copying what I thought would be the best quote, but continued finding more. "They require no coherent theory of victory; only the perpetual readiness to deploy force abroad without any real consequence to the rest of society. The warriors are always prepared; the policy never is."
American bushido, the obsession with lethality, warrior ethos, and tactical “merit” was the logical endpoint of an all volunteer professional military. But it’s bleeding into the rest of American society in increasingly unhealthy ways. My latest⬇️

An electric pickup for ~$28,000? The Slate has everything:

- No infotainment system, just your phone
- Hand roll-up windows
- Only one color
- All exterior parts attach with an allen wrench
- Can be upgraded into a Bronco

I'm legitimately compelled here.

Renewables were 92% of new power added in 2024. Low carbon sources now accounts for 41% of worldwide electricity.

Though, I can’t help but look at this graph and think about how much better it would look if we weren’t retiring nuclear plants so much faster than we’re building them.

I don’t think I ever would’ve used this sort of language a few years ago, but I am starting to think there’s really no good explanation for what’s happening at the highest levels of this country except evil

Like, in the ancient religious text/horror movie sense

It’s all destruction and misery
