Fandom old. Elder millenial. Pretend grown up.
I need to do more Christmas baking if it is going to be our gift to people this year. Anyone have favourites?

Oh, maybe we should go out on a tangent and make lamingtons? I've only eaten them once.

I can't believe it but there are 20+ other people who browse the library books that are on order. I am the 25th person in line for a book that doesn't come out until June, 2026.

Alright, I'm going through my author subscriptions trying to connect AO3 names and published author names. What is LovesBitca8's published name?

Just a casual day trip to the mountains.

All the feels.

I miss it so much. I think about these women that shaped me as a young adult. Kept me alive some nights.

Right, I forgot that original fiction needs a ton of world building and it can be painful to get through.

*happy sigh* senlinyu's writing is so good. Missed it so much.

I hope they're working on a transformation of Let the Dark In because I want to know how the story ends.

I miss old fandom. I miss the people and the connection.

I would like to read more books from authors that jumped ship to publishing but I forget who's who. Is there a nice list somewhere?

Don't get me wrong. The BF sales are now better than Boxing Day, for some reason.

It's that time of year to wonder how many (early) Black Friday there are because it just keeps going on forever. It's such a meaningless retail holiday when we don't even have a stat to anchor it.

Reading Rise of the G.E.M.S with the child and I am happy that the author has an actual PhD in Biology! Absolutely amazing. Can't wait for the next book!

@maja-li.bsky.social I sent child 1 blind into a D&D day camp for kids today and they loved it. I was surprised at the gender balance but they came out super excited about it. Thanks for talking about your D&D plans all the time.

Why does the teacher keep sending us YouTube videos? We don't watch YT at home and we're not going to start. Give me some worksheets instead. UGH.

I don't know why but reading all the elections, especially the NYC one, is giving me hope for where I live.

The library is such a fascinating place because each branch has different books. We have over 4000 check outs for children's books so it's fascinating when I find an amazing book that we haven't read and it isn't a new release.

Oh, baseball is still on.
November 2, 2025 at 3:28 AM
Nothing like trick or treating with the kids while the baseball game was on and the children updating up on the score as they went house to house.

So the science center is doing a temporary planetarium dome show this month, and this is how I learned that I've been pronouncing "Andromeda" wrong for this entire time.

The snow was melting off the roofs today. We are above zero and it was sunny.

I just want some replacement bags for Quacks and maybe the card +bit holder from BGG but paying $35 in shipping/tax for $35 worth of product makes no sense.
October 14, 2025 at 3:51 AM
I hate how early it snows. I waited until 2PM to kick the kids outside but it was still -9c with the windchill.
October 14, 2025 at 3:48 AM
Ah, when I see all the crafty kids costumes and they're all just wearing a long sleeve underneath, I am reminded that most people in the world don't need to fit snowsuits under their costumes.

I think another thing people need to get over is that graphic novels is still reading.
Reading Rainbow emphasis is encouraging kids to read. The focus is not on teaching them to read. The mission is reading should be fun!

We are all readers, worthy of literacy. LeVar Burton said “but you don’t have to take my word for it” because he wanted us to look to the books. That’s the beauty 💚
