I think this is a very important fact for people in my generation to understand. Being healthy and having a balanced diet is much more important than trying to morph your body into a trend that will only last a limited amount of time. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
I’ve seen a lot of commentary about “super skinny coming back into fashion”.

It’s 2025 - can we please accept that bodies aren’t infinitely changeable, we can’t reconstruct them on a trend… it’s not fashion or a trend; it’s just bias.

Nutrition is an essential part of our lives and something that I will take with me in the future. I plan to share the insights I learned in this class with my future patients. Additionally, I want to share the awareness I learned about obesity.

Cranberries are naturally tart, which is why most cranberry products have added sugar. Fresh or frozen cranberries are a different story and offer antioxidants, fiber, and a sharp flavor that works in both sweet and savory meals. A small boost with real benefits. #RealWorldNutrition

Stuffing depends on what goes into it. Whole grains add fiber, veggies add volume and nutrients, and herbs bring flavor without extra calories. A good reminder that a dish is more than its reputation. #RealWorldNutrition

I think it is important to reflect on mental health when dieting. It is common to prioritize mental health before progression. It is important to choose what helps you feel the best, so you can make the best choices for yourself in the future. #beh353

November’s a good time to check in with yourself. Progress isn’t about doing everything right—it’s about noticing what helps you feel your best and doing more of that. #RealWorldNutrition

Tom's story revealed that change is about consistency. Although he was eating fast food every day, it became a staple in his life and motivated him to also improve other aspects of his life. "Curing" obesity isn't just about diet, but also improvement of lifestyle. #beh353

This relates back to Corden's video. Rather than judging and harsh criticism, it is important to show empathy, and everyone has a different story. It is worse to be cruel than to be empathetic when it comes to the topic of obesity. #beh353

The more mainstream media I do, the more I get comments like this.
Often it's trolls-But sometimes people have just been so conditioned by diet culture & emboldened by the internet that they don't even see the problem with their comments. www.dremmabeckett-foodnutritionscientist.com/blog/yes-im-...

Corden discusses solutions that could help decrease the rise of obesity. He argues that fat-shaming does not help with obesity, and better alternatives are looking at the healthcare system and spreading awareness of prevention.

"Unhealthy diet of friends and family" is relatable. As a college student, fast food is easier and cheaper to access than something healthy. When I am with family, we like to hang out and eat junk food while we catch up. It is not always a great choice, but enjoyable!

I occasionally take Metamucil gummies. They are used to help relieve constipation. They absorb water from the large intestine and form a gel-like substance. This substance increases the bulk of stool and softens it.

Hunger isn’t always visible. Plenty of people look “fine” while stressing over their next meal. Access to nutritious food shouldn’t be a luxury. Support local food programs, share resources, and stop judging what’s in someone’s grocery cart. #RealWorldNutrition #FoodSecurity

The keto diet is consuming high-fat, low-carb diet to keep the body in ketosis. Because one is maintaining a low-carb diet, how long should one stay on the diet before it becomes unhealthy? I found that many people begin the diet to lose weight.

This quote made me feel a better about my food intake yesterday. I had a lot of sugar and "junk" food yesterday. However, because I was staying over my friend'd dorm and studying for my exam, access to healthy options was limited. Plus it my food helped my concentrate and study!
PSA: You don’t have to earn your food. It’s not a reward for being “good” or punishment for being “bad.”

I believe that I was accurate with all the food I recorded, but my exam might've clouded some of my memory. It was pretty easy to do because I try to watch what I'm eating. However, I was surprised by my sugar intake. I need to start concentrating on the sugar in my food! @beh353 #beh353

It is also important to prioritize your mental health when it comes to nutrition. When learning about macro/micronutrients, it is important to learn the benefits and how they also align with your experience and culture of food.
Food = fuel AND joy (+ culture, experience, love, etc.). You’re allowed to eat without guilt. No burpees required.

Fiber is an essential macronutrient that your body needs. A fun fact about fiber is that it feeds the bacteria in your gut and reduces cholesterol. Some examples are fruit, whole grains, and vegetables. @beh353 #beh353
