It is 1999. I am standing in a Hot Topic. Blink-182 is playing over the speakers. I am beside an endcap of Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise.

Downtown Mississauga really distills the GTA’s deeply weird melange of urban conditions. A giant suburban shopping mall, surrounded by surface parking, surrounded by a huge cluster of new-build towers, surrounded by single-family suburbia. The Toronto turducken.

We just walked the dog and it looked like rain so I grabbed the big golfing brolly we keep by the back door. It hasn't been used in months and months.

The dog keeps going a bit mad, trying to grab the brolly off me.

No idea why, stupid hound.

Saw this cat again but gave them a wide berth this time. Absolutely gorgeous and haughty so obviously 10/10, but history reminds me that I want to keep this one sharp side down. @thecatreviewer.bsky.social

I owe an apology to George Lucas. It turns out Jar Jar getting an esteemed role for which he is wildly unqualified in a fascist government was actually the most realistic thing in the prequels.

James and I listened to this last night and squealed with glee, both at the content itself and at the fact that Andy has new music. Strongly recommended.
I don't have a tip jar, Patreon or things like that. What I *do* have is a Bandcamp page. And, after a four year wait, there is new music on it for you to have a listen to. Next month there'll be a mini album. Right now there is this andylewisuk.bandcamp.com/track/liz-tr...

Passed two people having a chat on the sidewalk, with a dog between them, belly up looking for pats. AND NO ONE WAS PATTING THE GOOD DOG. Who ignores a belly up pup?!

HERE LIES… is now out in the world. A twisty little tale written by myself and @mattwaldram.bsky.social and starring Ian Midlane from BBC DOCTORS and Demelza O’Sullivan. They both kill in it. Please like it and share around. Be great to get some eyes on it.

Most days I'm pretty chill if there are items out of stock for the Ocado order but today, today, I am not chill. Looking forward to sending James to the shop for both types of Christmas crackers.

Had extra time this morning because EVERYONE decided to be up at 6:23 so I made pancakes. Put chocolate chips in some. Turns out my child dislikes chocolate chip pancakes...if she hadn't drunk the leftover maple syrup off the dish, I'd have questioned if she was actually mine.

Just an astounding number of "unwrapped and mingling in a communal bowl" candy on the trick or treat run tonight. Unwrapped gummies. British people, you are so close yet so, so far.

James is travelling for work so of course I'm having the sort of heart palpitations I seem to get when I'm massively anxious. Love that for me, the girl with the family history of fatal heart disease. My search history is a wild ride right now. Focusing on my recent excellent blood pressure results.

I have to take a course for professional development and it's offered globally...so now I'm wondering how to not take it in the UK and shoehorn a little trip for myself in Spain or Italy. Just a 36 hour experience literally anywhere else, please.

Every local "looking for a cleaner" post is "need cleaner to deep clean flat, must specialise in antiques preservation, remove cat fur one strand at a time using tweezers and be here in 37 minutes. Can't use the letter T in sentences. Or think it while at the property. £4 total, bring own supplies."

This doesn't expire until October but something tells me it's not edible anymore. I've never seen a sealed one puff up quite like this. 😬

James put a reminder in the calendar, told me in person, and has now sent me a message starting with "n.b." about a delivery he has coming to the house today (yes, a personal message to his *wife* with bloody nota bene). It would be absolutely hilarious if I missed the delivery at this point.

My child demanded to go to the first day of school in a cardigan in 30+ degree weather. When I picked her up it was plastered to her skin. Not sure if I am concerned for her willingness to suffer for a look or in awe of her willingness to suffer for a look.
