I had dozens of follows overnight. I’ve followed about a third of you back, and will keep at it until I get everyone.

I notice that a lot of you are veterans and ardent Democrats.
I want you to know some things about me before you commit:
@mennonitemom.bsky.social per our conversation about Catholic hymns this week, we sang “Longing for light,“ in church this morning (“Christ be our light, shine in our hearts; shine in our darkness.“) that’s a good unison song.

I think the right-wing crazies want to turn Bluesky into a cesspit like X. They just want to jump in and attack whatever they can just to make a mess. They want us to overreact and make things worse.

The people that make the most mistakes lose. Let's not make mistakes here.

Florida did not win power with better ideas. It built a digital machine designed to dominate information, intimidate critics, and trap entire communities inside engineered echo chambers. This is how modern authoritarianism works. #Voices4Victory #DV1 #ProudBlue #USDemocracy

You can be justly outraged by Trump's pardon of Juan Hernández, the drug-trafficking former President of Honduras, but you should not ignore the context. In 2006, the people elected Manuel Zelaya who initiated free education for all children, increased the minimum wage by 80%,

The South Park episode mocking Pete Hegseth hit me wrong because they showed him only interested in getting content for social media when he’s actually been killing a bunch of people in the Caribbean.

Elon Musk and the Trump administration gleefully shutting down USAID “has already caused the deaths of six hundred thousand people, two-thirds of them children.”

People throw around terms like genocide quite freely online but it’s hard to find other words to describe this level of man-made death.

It will be hard.

But we’ll only be able to move on from this if we hold those responsible to account for what they allowed to happen here.

We must have trials.
We must have sentences.

We must reckon with the truths of America’s sins if we’re to create a new American future.

On Pete Hegseth and the Boy Scouts: What right does Mr. Poster Boy for Unqualified Mediocre White Men have to talk about meritocracy? It's really hard to become an Eagle Scout. It's interesting that of all things he cites as bad about the Boy Scouts, he never once mentions the sexual abuse

My proposal: Russia withdraws from Occupied Territories. Election monitors move in. People there get to vote whether they want to be part of Ukraine or Russia. Some kind of leverage for Putin exists. Am I crazy?
