John Deere got this video taken off our YouTube for two weeks. It took our lawyers reaching out to YouTube to get it back up.

The video lays out how a handful of corporations took control of the agriculture industry, bankrupting farmers and screwing us all over.

It’s hard to find a pullquote that conveys both the ludicrous position this university has taken, and the seriousness of this present moment in America. >> Scholars are now being directly asked to lie to the public. <<

Is Trump correct that museums, universities, and the media have a left-wing “woke” bias?

Of course not.

It’s the question Trump would like everyone to be asking, but it obscures the more important question. Some thoughts... https://robertreich.substack.com/p/who-decides-what-we-know-and-learn

Vance provides a perfect example that encapsulates the idea of implicit racism here: white conservative politicians *routinely* go to multi-ethnic cities to scorn locals but minority pols *dare not* publicly scorn predominantly white rural towns and counties.

Clearly racialized double standard.
JD Vance on homelessness: "I don't know why we accepted that it was reasonable to have crazy people yelling at our kids. You should not have to cross the street in downtown Atlanta to avoid a crazy person yelling at your family. Those are your streets."

94% of teachers have had to dip into their own pockets to buy school supplies. An estimated 1 in 6 have second jobs during the school year to make ends meet.

The average Wall Street employee got a record $244,700 bonus last year.

Something has gone terribly wrong.

The Americans with Disabilities Act — passed 35 years ago — was not a gift. It was the result of a powerful movement led by people who demanded to be seen, heard and treated with dignity.

The fight for equality is far from over. In fact, it is more urgent now than ever.

This is why banning books is bad, Shirley. You don’t like a book that’s in the library? no problem! Nobody is forcing you to check it out, much less read it. Looking for a book that others don’t like but you do— opps, you can’t check it out, because someone else banned it. Selfish and short-sighted.

A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

Hearing about some US universities advising their international scientists (green card holders & visa holders) not to leave the US for the time being for fear that re-entry will be non-trivial even with all the necessary documents in hand.

Is this happening at your institution?

Parental rights do not replace our parental responsibilities.

These books are protected speech. If we don't like the speech, we communicate with our children about the boundaries we have set and why.

We don't hand over the responsibility of setting those boundaries to the government.
