Retired Army Sgt. Brian Wofford spoke to me this morning at the Oklahoma City #NoKings protest. Didn’t expect him to be carrying his DD214 so I asked some warmup questions like when he got out and whether his injury was service-related.

He paused while describing the car bomb in Iraq to say this:

Thank you. That means a lot. That's our team's goal.
Next has been what many of us miss our local news being like before the top down copy paste all channels verbatim same. I follow a news cast from everywhere I've lived and 9 news was the last one that felt like journalists answering real concerns instead of copypasta.

Not a very good idea
Jackie Sedley of KGNU Community Radio questioned opponents of a plan to create a regional trail system through Rocky Flats, a former nuclear weapons plant that's now a wildlife refuge. Small Change

Strip the n,
that cacophonic sneer,
from violent,
and what blooms?
A violet:
soft as dusk blush,
petal-thoughts curling
where fists once clenched.
War's alphabet
rewritten
by subtraction.
A flower,
whisper-born,
from the tongue
of mayhem.

When hundreds of thousands of people coordinate across an entire nation to protest governmental policies, that’s not a page 18 story. That’s not a “see more in section B” situation. That’s front-page news. Period.
