I am the domestic terror organization that burned the entire city of Seattle to the ground. And I'll do it again. You found me, but you can't stop me.

Ask me why ACAB. Go ahead and ask. I can prove it.
Yes, this does mean that your child born on Dec. 31 turns one year old the following day.

In South Korea, everybody is officially born on Jan. 1. By which I mean, for legal reasons, your age is based on year alone, so everyone changes age at the same time: Jan. 1.

also, the student had no reason to believe I was atheist other than that I'm a philosopher professor.

The student was also Catholic. I think that matters here.

I had a student complain that I graded their paper badly because I'm an atheist to my dept. chair once, and the dept. chair responded, "Well I'm a Catholic, and I would've given this an even worse grade because of its doctrinal issues."

What if I use it to play Go?

Okay, this just makes me think you didn't bother to read it because it has several paragraph breaks (though for some reason they are not indented) and a cohesive structure.

Once one knee goes, the other inevitably follows. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But soon. And for the rest of your life.

Clarity is just about how easily the reader can determine your meaning, not about how thoughtful or accurate or rational those ideas are. And I think this writing is QUITE clear. We all know EXACTLY where this students stands and why. The ideas are complete shit, but they were expressed clearly.
December 1, 2025 at 10:19 PM
The meaning seemed very clear and easy to parse throughout to me. So yeah. I mean, part of the reason it's so easy to identify the thinking as unreflective, self-contradictory, and bigoted is BECAUSE it's pretty clearly written.

Tenured professor here. Would I have given the paper a zero? Probably not. It was clearly written, after all. But would I have contradicted my T.A. (or some other instructor) if they gave it a zero? Nope. And I would 100% have their back if the student decided made some bullshit discrimination claim

They also apparently broke BOTH tricycles simultaneously, which seems like it would be deliberate. That, or they were playing "crash the trikes into each other," which DOES sound like fun.

The original star descriptions attested to this:

* "worth a stop" - Pull in here if you happen to be passing by.

** "worth a detour" - If you're driving NEAR here, go out of your way to dine at this place.

*** "worth a special journey" - This is a destination you should deliberately drive to.

If you happen across a tortoise in the wild, they probably have no idea where they are and no recollection of how they got here, nor do they care. They're just lookin' for leaves to munch.
November 29, 2025 at 3:33 PM
fun fact:

Tortoises have a severely underdeveloped hippocampus, even for reptiles, and some have no hippocampus at all. This is the region responsible for, among other things, long term memory and spatial navigation. Tortoises don't need either. They're always home and leaves be everywhere.
