Great to be in attendance at seminar today celebrating 10 years of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC): A Decade of Impact, A Future of Fair Work and Equality. There were contributions highlighting stories from the frontline services, and the future of fair work & equality in Ireland & beyond.

Fantastic Trade Union Day at University of Galway. Great engagement at the stands across campus and at our Information Seminar on Fixed Term Contracts, Specific Purpose Contracts and CID’s. Fabulous to see this engagement leading to several potential members joining as a result.

ICTU Group met with the chair of the Oireachtas Education Committee Erin McGreehan TD, We discussed several issues such as the ECF, Higher Education Funding, Apprenticeship Delivery & Delivery and the need for a Stakeholder Forum for Higher Education and how we could support her work the Committee.

Students are being asked to shoulder unaffordable fees while struggling to find housing, access healthcare, and make ends meet.

We strongly support the demand to end casualisation and eliminate insecure contracts.

This includes defending Academic Freedom and pushing back against growing commercial and political pressures. Education must remain a public good, democratically accountable, properly funded, and accessible to all

SIPTU Divisional Organiser, Adrian Kane & Labour Leader, Ivana Bacik delivered the annual James Connolly addresses today at the Connolly Commemoration in Arbour Hill Cemetery.

James Connolly’s family also recited excerpts of his work on housing, conflict and equality which still resonate today.

Great couple of days at the ETBi HR & ESBS Conference. Really eye opening and interesting workshops on Systems Design, Robotic Automated Processes & AI and Personal & Professional Development. Most importantly got to network with ETB HR, ETBi & ESBS staff and my colleagues in INTO, TUI & Fórsa.
