Irrefutable evidence for the labeled line theory of sensory coding. At least, that’s how it feels to the brilliant illustrator

not reproducible ≠ wrong/false/fluke
reproducible ≠ true

not reproducible ≠ poor science
reproducible ≠ good science

reproducibility of results is not a reliable indicator of truth/research quality/epistemic progress.

replication of a poorly designed study is another poorly designed study.

Teaching stats & research methods to undergrad medical students is soul destroying.

But catch them later in their career, especially the ones who've developed an interest in research, & it can be very rewarding.

We need to rethink when & how we offer research training to medics.
I had very positive experiences interacting with medics working in pharma and subsequently giving courses on stats but not with 1st year students. I then concluded they were still too far from what they would become to appreciate stats.

It's really cool to see so many networks reforming, and new ones popping up. Many thanks for all the new "follows". I guess if I have one key message to share, it's that sometimes you just have to become your own (not a real) statistician.

I’m not a real statistician, and you can be one too
I was strolling around Cork, hand-in-hand with Cara, on a summer evening.
