Is it bad that GDP growth is half what it was last year? Half? That seems bad.
Powell: "GDP growth has slowed notably in the first half of this year, to a pace of 1.2%, roughly half the 2.5% pace in 2024. The declining growth has largely reflected a slowdown in consumer spending ... higher tariffs have begun to push up prices in some categories of goods."

I really do feel awful for Ukrainians watching this. Putin kidnapped 20,000 of their children and forced them through "re-education" camps and the future of their country depends on his ability to flatter the softest ego imaginable

If a town has to ration food and gasoline, and there is an ethical understanding that each person waits in line for their turn, and only is supposed to take a set amount, it doesn't work when half the town takes more than their share and jumps the line...
