this from my piece on charlie kirk is probably the most important takeaway if you want to know why bad faith, right-wing voices in media are treated as just another set of peers

Excellent response from Hasan Piker, who was scheduled to debate Charlie Kirk in two weeks. On his stream he said: “The reverberation of people seeking out vengeance in the aftermath of this violent, abhorrent incident is going to be genuinely worrisome.” Also talked about his own vulnerability

There’s a way to be respectful in reporting on Charlie Kirk being shot while also refusing to whitewash who he was and what consequences his political activism has had. Obituaries for public figures are a part of history.

I’m gonna hold your hand while I say this: “full flavor” sparkling water is just soda. You’re drinking soda. And that’s okay! You can just like having a soda, as a treat, without pretending it’s a health elixir.

Measles high infection rate is the reason we have not yet been able to eradicate it. That rate means you need a very high vaccination rate to prevent outbreaks. It is possible, but not with current levels of institutional distrust.
The average person with the flu gives it to around 1.4 people. The average person with measles gives it to between 12 and 18 people.

Measles cases continue to surge globally, putting millions of children at risk.

More than 10 million people globally were infected with measles in 2023, a 20% increase from the previous year.

Vlado Chernozemski, who assassinated King Alexander I of Yugoslavia, belonged in his youth to a club that was devoted to a game of regicide.

In the game, known as "chess," contestants subtly maneuver into a position that allows them to topple the opponent's monarch.

Remembering the time Cigna denied a claim for a provider I'd found through their "find a provider" tool, then chided me on the phone for not verifying the provider was in network before seeing them. I asked how I should have checked — they said, using the "find a provider" tool, of course.

I’ve taken @cberedjick.bsky.social on several dates to the Mars Cheese Castle in the past decade, and I’ll do so for as long as they let me
For the @washingtonpost.com travel section, I wrote about the Mars Cheese Castle, which IS a castle and DOES sell cheese but is located on the side of the highway in Wisconsin, not on Mars.
A literal castle full of cheese? Only in Wisconsin.
Mars Cheese Castle is more than a roadside curiosity and a store. It has become a symbol for all things Wisconsin.
