here’s what you’ll need to survive:
a strong stomach
a soft heart
a clear head
cunning eyes
sharp ears
a waiting patience
a careful body

my third grader went to sleep last night holding her stuffed rabbit and talking about minecraft

she tells me funny things about school
her friends play a game under a tree
she calls it “queen of the world”

a southern politic at church potlucks and neighborhood lynchings

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

A man who makes an “exception” for abortion in certain cases, does not actually care about “the unborn,” but his ability to control a woman’s body.

use your feet to make trouble

and when they take your feet
use your hands to make waves

and when the hands go
use your eyes to burn warnings

and when your eyes fail
use your heart to beat change

A story:

There was once a little boy who was born with a strange magic. Unlike the other children in his town, he wasn’t able to fly or heal or even change rocks into bread. His magic didn’t help people at all—it did something different, something the people had never seen before.

a woman once died from toxic empathy
the coroner said her heart gave out
after it was crushed by the weight of all the needs she carried on her back

“toxic empathy,”
the coroner said,
“killed this woman.”
“beware,”
the king said,
“because it might be catching.”

This was so much fun!
I FANGIRLED OUT to hear @kaitlinshetler.bsky.social read "sometimes i wonder" on "An ExMo and a NeverMo Walk Into a Bar..."
The erasure of women's experiences is so universal that we can literally give birth to the Son of God & still be excluded from any meaningful roles in some Christian faiths.

Even mild church experiences can be harmful.

Because it’s not always the community that is dangerous, but the theology itself.
