Yup, they supposedly provide inverters with “synthetic inertia.”

What an amazing phrase. I call my productivity “synthetic momentum” because i just *appear* busy.

I’m an enormous fan of whichever EE got to name this.

Apologies! I meant to say microgrid, not VPP.

Sounds like a really unique circumstance. Now I'm down a wiki rabbit hole reading about synchronverters, which sounds like a scifi macguffin.
