In today's dollars, since 1984, tax cuts to the wealthy, corporate tax cuts and increases to the military has added $27 trillion to the federal deficit. That's before the current tax cuts on the table.

That is not a made up number but a rather easy to calculate with minimal research.

I just feel if the average death (using that loosely) is 72 then retirement should be set around 55 so they can enjoy it. Who wants to retire at 65-70 with maybe 10 years of life left?

Okay, between 15 and 20%, or about 2 million, illegal immigrants work in the farm and hotel industry.

Trump has now twice said he's going to, basically, not deport them.

How is this not driving MAGA bonkers?

As farmworker deportations loom, Donald Trump hints at relief for agriculture
At peak harvest, an estimated 500,000 workers are needed in California to pick, pack and ship fruit and nuts all over the world.

If you think Trump cares about deficits, you're wrong. His bankruptcies confirm he doesn't watch the bottom line

Trumps has only cared about one thing and that's making a mark on history. That's why he puts his name on everything

He's not collecting all this money for deficits. For what, then?

I find it sad and ironic that Trump is negotiating a nuclear agreement with Iran that will be largely like the one he scuttled all those years ago.

Nothing has changed except iran has had a lot of time to work in secret.

That, and Trump's need to look like a peacemaker.

Desparate to make a mark.

Trump's signature is use other people's money to further his name. Trump this and Trump that he lost other people's money

Sound familiar? He is going to use this tariff money to make history - a substantial cut or tax elimination for 75% of the middle class

The irony? It's our money he will use

Trump points to Europe's ECB lowering interest rates but fails to note that, unlike the US, the EU has not raised tariffs on all of their trading partners and has even delayed those aimed at the US.

In short, they are not expecting inflation but, instead, recession.

Due to Trump, we expect both.

Let me get this straight, Trump wants to bring manufacturing performed by well over 2 billion people worldwide who export to us and expects 350 million of us to do it less expensively?

TikTok TikTok

Trump thinks, for the Chinese, this is just business

If they feel they are being disrespected, Trump will either need to give a lot more or they may just refuse to allow the US from spinning off part of TikTok

The longer he ignores them, the less likely the TikTok deal goes through

I wish it was easier to get ahold of my representatives in Congress.

I want to tell them to stop being so reactionary. Honestly! What happened to hope and ideas - two things Democrats are known.

This "rage against the machine" may feel good in the moment but it ends up being a senseless waste.

Republicans could, using the tariffs and budget cuts, reasonably eliminate income tax for all making <$100,000 = 75% all filers. Transition period of 1 year while promoting this cut in the last 6 months of that, they would win in a landslide in 2026 and 2028 likely close to supermajorities

Trump and Musk are creating a dystopia capitalist future where the weak and elderly are on their own, left to die

In short, Trump and Musk wants to save capitalism from empathy

Empathy is what compels us to take care of our sick, disabled and elderly

The big picture? They are succeeding

The next election shouldn't be between two sides competing for who can gin up the most rage and fear about their opponents

Instead I think we model it after Obama and emphasize hope and kindness and how we're going to make life better for the working class

Don't take the bait. Do what we do best

Once trade stabilizes again at 10% baseline across the board, the government will be collecting hundreds of billions in new revenue

Trump has already suggested tariffs could replace income tax. While I doubt that, I do wonder

Could he offer a big middle class tax cut before an important election?
