In today's dollars, since 1984, tax cuts to the wealthy, corporate tax cuts and increases to the military has added $27 trillion to the federal deficit. That's before the current tax cuts on the table.

I didn't pull that number out of thin air. Check my math.

Trump was working off "Art of the Deal" concepts when he should have used "The Art of War".

He opened up too many fronts in his trade war and underestimated China.

We get to pay for that obvious mistake and it's a reminder that geopolitical strategies do not follow business strategies.

I could add that his complete lack of faith before running for office suggests he doesn't believe, or denies. Jesus is Christ and also the father and son.

Don't understand Christians voting for Trump. He denies the lessons of Jesus Christ, divides Christianity between those who fervently support him, whom he deceives, and those who vehemently oppose him, whom he persecutes, claims divine authority and has a spirit of deception.

Anti-christ, anyone?

Not only that but just saying those words makes it increasingly difficult for the IRS to do anything. Harvard has an army of law graduates so this may be a fight he can't win.

It's in our constitution that way though nothing is stopping the government from declaring it a mandatory federal holiday or making it compulsory. Easier than changing the constitution.

Both Rubio and Trump support aggressive measures against left-wing groups like Antifa including surveillance and potential terrorist designations. However, they criticize similar actions taken by Germany against a right-wing party, the AfD, despite evidence of extremist rhetoric and actions.

Agreed. The timing, the depiction and the poster make this indefensible by any Christian standard. He might as well have spit on the Pope at his funeral in addition to wearing a blue suit when the Vatican asked for black only.

Just a further slight to Catholics everywhere.

Seriously. Trump embodies none of the traits of a Pope. None.

He is so far removed from Pope that I am going with Anti-christ.

"Revenge of the Turds" , as it were.

Society moved past them and they want to take us back. Trump and his ilk are only too happy to use them to get what they want.

I agree. It irritates me when people lump all Christians together. Freedom of religion in the constitution was put in there largely because of Christian-on-Christian persecution at the time

So when did Christian become one thing instead of many denominations with wildly different interpretations?

I think we're circling. Considering he is in power and there is nothing you or I can do to change that, don't you think we could wait for actual evidence of something he's done to before labeling his election a "disaster"

I understand your point of view and I hope you understand mine.

That's all.

Did you hear that Japan said out loud that, as the largest holder of US treasuries, using them is a card on the table for negotiations.
May 3, 2025 at 9:25 PM
I agree but hard not to make a comparison when we continue to sink on issues like health care, climate change and stability.

They look better now because we look so bad.
May 3, 2025 at 9:21 PM
My point was that we haven't seen how or if this is going to be implemented. Politicians say a lot of things in a campaign

I can't tell you what types of regulations they'll have to adhere or what methods of extraction they'll be allowed to use

It's hyperbole to call this a disaster at this time.
May 3, 2025 at 9:16 PM
I agree but his position in the government was ceremonial and had virtually no power. Like Trump, Hitler stole powers he did not have. So the mirror between Trump and Hitler is stunning.

People who follow a person who is "never wrong" are inclined to share that trait with him.

True on so many levels.
