Postdoctoral Fellow at WUSTL. I use single-molecule methods to study the mechanisms of helicases, translocases, and SSB proteins. Pro midwest, STL, & science
Cool story, but the article used some jargon at the beginning making it difficult to understand what the scientists did!

E. coli genome has been remade with 101,000 changes to its DNA
The recoded bacterium uses only 57 of the 64 possible genetic codes, freeing up seven to be used for different purposes

Caitlin Clark should have been allowed to play on the US Olympic team in Paris. People remember that they didn't have her on the team and that they almost lost to France in the gold medal game.

New report shows that NIH grants fueled $95 billion in economic activity and 407,782 jobs in 2024.

That's not to mention the countless lives that biomedical research has saved.

Show me a better investment than that.

Wondering why superfamily 1A UvrD-family helicases need to dimerize to display helicase activity? Just published “Structural Basis for Dimerization and Activation of UvrD-family Helicases”, led by Ankita Chadda, Binh Nguyen and Eric Galburt.

Exciting news - we can finally tell y’all!

Super happy to announce the close of our £4 million seed round.

Now the fun bit starts as we will be hiring across all roles - science / engineering / commercial, and scaling our company to deliver single-molecule assays to academic and pharma labs.
🚀 Exciting News: £4 Million Investment Secured! 🚀

We're very happy to announce a £4M investment led by Northern Gritstone.

We'll be investing in the team and R&D for our academic and pharma customers.

Hello Bluesky! (Is that even what we say on here?)

So excited to make the move from the other place.

Let me re-introduce you to @ei-science.bsky.social

You can follow our company for lots of #smFRET and #FCS updates, and follow me for an eclectic mix of science, business, faith and family!
We are a growing team of scientists and engineers spun out of Dr. Tim Craggs’ research lab (@timcraggs.bsky.social) with a mission of simplifying single molecule spectroscopy to enable the broadest possible uptake of these incredibly powerful, but historically complex and underutilised techniques.

Hey! Check out this new article from the Lohman and Galburt Labs. Here they show the structure of an SF1A helicase in its active conformation. A conformation that is brought on by dimerization of the enzyme while it is bound to DNA.
Happy to share our recent collaborative work with Eric Galburt's lab led by Dr. Ankita Chadda and Dr. Binh Nguyen describing the first structures of M. tuberculosis dimeric superfamily 1A UvrD-family helicases bound to a DNA junction biorxiv.org/cgi/content/....
