Books, Food, Life at the library, sometimes a bit weird.
I have a crockpot full of chicken thighs, chopped onions and peppers, tomatoes, chicken broth, a container of salsa on the brink of expiration, and lots of garlic powder and cumin, among other seasonings. I will make freezer portions and add noodles or rice upon reheat. Let’s see how this goes.

A couple weeks ago I needed about two teaspoons of pumpkin spice mix for a recipe. Since I didn’t have it and didn’t want to buy it, I figured I’d make some. I made a wee bit too much.

Last night I impulsively made baked apples. It was one of the better impulsive decisions I’ve made in a while.

I’m home today and decided it would be a good time to start harness training one of my cats. It’s going exactly as you might imagine it would.

I’m trailing behind the ponytailed child and my brother, the tall white guy. The youngest is ahead of him.

Because I’m THE BEST DAUGHTER, I waited 45 minutes in line for fair donuts for my parents. There is a 2 dozen limit. I only took a few for myself. Also rode the Ferris wheel multiple times with my 7 year old niece.

The link for this one doesn’t seem to exist anymore - I’ve had it for awhile - but I found the pic from when I set it up.

Yesterday I roasted chicken legs. Tonight one of the legs was dismembered for fancy-ish ramen.

So as to not hijack: remember, if you have extra pie dough but it isn’t quite enough to fill a pie pan, you can always make a free-form apple pie. I threw this together with my then-8yo niece during our Thanksgiving pie adventures. It was good, messy scientific fun! Yes, there’s lard in that crust.

I ordered sweet potatoes using pick up the other day and they were enormous. It will take me weeks to get through them. One of those sweet potatoes diced up filled an entire pan. Good thing they store well!

@mostlybree.kitrocha.com The mystery box is delightful. Plum thinks some items belong to her. She is mistaken.

I’m one of those people who desperately needs their own space, so I like living alone. I go out if I want to be with people. Having said that, I’d be miserable without pets. I have a two cat limit, which works out well. It’s nice to be greeted when I come home.

Sitting in. My parents’ living room while my dad listens to The Music Man score snd my mom watches a WNBA game on her laptop. The sound of midwestern insects filter through the screen So much competing aural dissonance.

Plum and I just started Katabasis by R. F. Kuang and it is a delight! I’m chortling over the descriptions of academia.

As mentioned in a comment elsewhere, if I want her to get up, all I need to do is say, “I’m sorry.” She will be disgruntled, but she will get off my lap.
