Shaheen is completely out of touch with politics in the Era of Trump. Just as Democrats finally seemed to be getting off the matt, she and the other seven Senators who voted to end the shutdown without getting anything in return cut the legs right from under her party. Congratulations, Senator.
This is not what they actually say. This is what they used to say, in the long ago before times when Shaheen learned to do politics. There is no kumbaya median voter anymore. The question you get knocking doors is not "why can't you all just work together?" it's "why didn't / will you fight harder?

We all know Johnson takes his marching orders from Trump. Does Trump have ANY incentive to cut a deal with Democrats to re-open the government? Hell, since opening the government will inevitably lead to a vote on releasing the Epstein Files, Trump must be pulling for Senate Dems to hold fast.
