Disabled queer artist she/her dogs>almost everything
A thousand times yes! These pompous 21st-century Typhoid Marys infuriate me; it’s a scalding display of ego, or maybe it’s willful ignorance. Either way, it’s a power play, forcing your patients to request a bare minimum standard of care.

How many times we gotta say it?? Nothing about us without us. FFS!

I’d roll my eyes, but my doctor says if don’t quit, my eyes will get stuck back there, and then how will I make my snarky little comments?
I get so friggin riled when people talk about the why's and wherefore's of working from home without mentioning disability or accessibility, even in passing.

Like, go fuck yourself & that nonsense sideways with a brick.

We always have & continue to be here.

Oh, don’t worry—it’s just hell freezing over. Nothing to see here!

Outside, everything is scary, yes. But this does make it a little better.
My word of the day (and personal recommendation) is ‘snerdling’ (18th century): nestling cosily beneath the covers and holding off the day a little longer.

Morning.

Let me tell you a tale of complex medical needs in a time when coordination of care is an absolute pipe dream.

I’ve spent all summer battling pericarditis (presumed, no echo to confirm, ofc), with chest pain, dyspnea, and endless POTS/OI. In addition to all the usual interventions 1/

Dark speculations: How long, do you think, before the covid cognitive declines start to manifest in the domestic violence and child abuse statistics?

Sitting in the cardiologist’s office, 40 minutes after my appointment was to start. And the nurses still haven’t processed my infusion paperwork. I’ve been waiting two months and paying out of pocket. I’m broke, still sick, and now I’m paying for a second useless office visit?!

Hot take: If after five years of a pandemic you work in healthcare and you haven’t absorbed the concept of viral aerosols, you are too self-centered, ego-driven, and ill-informed to work in a position caring for others. Wear a mask; prove me wrong.

One reason why able-bodied folk fear and want to hide away disabled people is because we function as a sort of Ghost of Christmas future, unsettling harbinger of what’s to come. Transferring blame for lack of access is also much easier when you don’t have to say it to anyone’s face.

In magical thinking today: the “but it’s my favorite” excuse.

Look, we are all grieving our lives from the before times. Sad to say, but Covid doesn’t give one sh!t about what you love in this world. You can’t bargain with an airborne virus.

Every high-risk activity is someone’s favorite.

This is why You. Must. Rest. You’re not going to feel mitochondrial damage until the damage is done.
If you are recovering from a COVID infection you really need to rest for a few months. This paper is showing mitochondrial damage to cardiomyocytes. The cells responsible for heart beats. #LongCovid

Regarding up-to-date Covid information—why your doctor “didn’t mention it”

Seeing all the dems who were at the DNC either be a) annoyed that they got covid while unmasked in a large crowd or b) joyfully proclaiming it was worth it has me ready to bash my head into a wall.
Public health? Don't know her. She quiet quit apparently.

Damn it. This is breaking my heart. Not literally, Covid did that on its own.

No, it’s the crushing weight of endlessly ringing an alarm to save people who would rather dance on the decks of the sinking ship.

If you were a beloved member of my family, age 84, recently having had a pacemaker placed, and now has symptomatic Covid, I would suggest radical rest, for at least three months post-infection.

Friend: I heard this guy got kidney stones and his doctor said it was because he drank too much tea?! Am I going to get kidney stones from drinking tea??
Me: Oh. My. God. That dude got kidney stones, from Covid, not tea.
Ostensibly educated friend: Do you even hear yourself sometimes? 1/

If I don’t have a place to respond to all the idiotic things I hear from people wanting to blame literally ANYTHING but Covid for problems that are, without a doubt, a result of Covid, I am going to explode into a Cassandra-shaped puff of smoke.
