Did you know this about Dean "Lucky Stars" Friedman?
In 1985, Friedman produced a seminal work on the newly emerging synthesizer industry called Complete Guide to Synthesizers, Sequencers, and Drum Machines. Whilst dated, this tome published by New York Amsco is still of use in evaluating devices that crop up on the second-hand market. Friedman also set up the New York School of Synthesis and provided a series of videos entitled Intro to Synthesis. Friedman presents the rudiments of this topic in an audio-visual format, whilst incorporating a unique sense of humor.

@alisonborealis.bsky.social I have a tea strainer like this and when one of the lugs broke so It was no longer hinged I cut a piece of hard plastic into a new lug and clipped the two edges of the strainer together with a wee clip that came off a tooth floss container.
Tea strainer which is hinged over a metal dish to collect drips which hangs over a mug when in use.

An episode of the Goodies had a brief segment about hunting haggis. Can't remember exactly how it happened, but 5 of us created a world of haggis with a history, and songs, and its own language (Haglish). 46 years later we have a Haggis WhatsApp group and I made everyone a pottery haggis for xmas.

As an American who lives here and experiences these issues firsthand, I will try to help you understand why many people feel frustrated with the direction the Democratic Party is taking this country. From foreign policy to media influence and cultural shifts, it’s clear that Democrats have embraced a strategy that prioritizes control over true progress. Here’s why the Republican perspective(Trump) aligns more closely with a vision of America that values freedom, accountability, and respect for our founding principles. The Democratic Party has increasingly supported interventions overseas that seem more about projecting power than protecting American interests. From the conflict in Ukraine to entanglements in the Middle East, they’ve promoted foreign involvement without clear benefits for Americans, fueling proxy wars under the guise of “democracy-building.” This approach costs American taxpayers billions and diverts resources from pressing domestic needs. Republicans(Trump), in contrast, have leaned toward a more restrained foreign policy that puts America first. Trump, for instance, prioritized withdrawing from conflicts and strengthening borders rather than involving the U.S. in endless, costly wars. Democrats have pushed for lenient immigration policies that allow large numbers of asylum seekers and migrants into the country, often resettling them in key areas that could shift political demographics. This strategy seems less about compassion and more about securing long-term political power by transforming swing states and even traditionally conservative areas. Republicans(Trump) believe in legal immigration processes that respect American laws and ensure security, focusing on strengthening our borders and enforcing existing immigration laws instead of exploiting vulnerable people for political gain. It’s no secret that mainstream media leans heavily Democratic. Roughly 90% of major news outlets promote narratives that align with Democratic interests, often silencing conservative viewpoints or portraying them in a negative light. This media landscape contributes to a distorted perception of Republicans, amplifying every misstep while downplaying issues within the Democratic Party. Fox News, talk radio, and a handful of conservative platforms are often the only counterbalance, but their reach is limited compared to the overwhelming influence of left-leaning networks. Republicans fight for a media landscape that includes all perspectives, not one dominated by a single ideological viewpoint. California exemplifies the destructive consequences of unchecked Democratic policies. Under Democratic leadership, the state has seen soaring homelessness, high taxes, and crippling regulations that have driven both people and businesses out. The “woke” agenda, while claiming to promote equity, has made cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles almost unlivable, with rising crime and deteriorating infrastructure. DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) policies, often pushed by Democrats, have turned into divisive programs that focus more on group identity than on merit or unity. Republican policies prioritize economic growth, safety, and individual responsibility, as seen in successful conservative-led states like Texas and Florida. While Democrats often paint Trump as a threat to democracy, the reality is that the Democratic Party is deeply influenced by wealthy elites and tech giants who fund their campaigns and control the flow of information online. The Democrats’ alliance with Silicon Valley, Hollywood, and corporate interests has turned them into exactly the kind of oligarchs they claim to oppose. This influence is used to censor dissent, push progressive agendas, and shut down conservative voices. Trump, on the other hand, fought against entrenched elites and sought to give a voice to everyday Americans who feel ignored by both political and corporate power. In short, Trump offered a vision that respects American values and prioritizes accountability and security. While Democrats push for radical changes that undermine these values, Republicans stand for freedom, stability, and a government that serves the people—not elites or foreign interests.
