One of my favorite films is Ari Aster's "Hereditary", simply because of its seemingly invisible B story: demon Paimon's Mother eradicates human moms to assure her son rises.
Charlie in bed mirrors her Grandmother in a casket, as Paimon's Mother exchanges Grandma's body for her daughter, Annie.

This is exactly why I’m telling the story of my dramatic romcom “She Loves Me Not”. Brilliant Black women analysts of love, politics and community have laid the groundwork for how we should engage and protect each other.
In reflecting on the passing of Nikki Giovanni great Black writers like Maya Angelou & Toni Morrison; my heart breaks in knowing that as Black folks, we have backslid in the radical, revolutionary & loving politics of our foremothers. We must return to the original recipes NOW.

In film, white symbolizes an “ending” of sorts, black often symbolizes an absence of truth / the unknown, and red symbolizes passion or danger.
This was a naturally told, doomed story of love. Directed by life.
