The Jesus I know would end the careers of 99 politicians if it meant a single survivor would have a better night’s sleep.

A big difference, and a vital, important difference, too.
There’s a big difference between reading the Bible because you want to encounter God and reading the Bible because you think it is god.

What God has joined together,
let no one put asunder.

When people don’t have insurance they neglect their health until it’s an emergency. When people don’t have money to pay for emergencies hospitals care for them anyway… until of course the hospitals go bankrupt and have to close, then there just isn’t critical healthcare at all.

Imagine being a Christian Nationalist who wants to take away women’s freedom when Jesus came to liberate the oppressed.

Conservative Evangelicals like to compare the president to Cyrus but intentionally harming children is a lot more like Pharaoh or Herod.

Today I syncopated (passed out) multiple times while flying over the Pacific. SO MANY people inconvenienced themselves to look out for my wellbeing.

Physically I’m still a little groggy but emotionally I feel nothing but gratitude. Our world is filled with Good Samaritans.

The Christian Nationalist tough guy act isn’t based, it’s just basic.

Real Christians follow a kind, empathetic, emotionally intelligent Jesus who self-described as meek and lowly in heart.

This is simply the truth, that all mankind is made in the Imago Dei, the image of God.
Also that Muslims are our neighbors, not our enemies. Though anyone can position themselves as an enemy, being a Muslim doesn't inherently make one an enemy.
Muslims are made in God’s image.
They’re our neighbors, not our enemies.

As a Christian minister I’d like to congratulate Zohran Mamdani on becoming New York’s first Muslim mayor!

Jesus doesn’t side with a party,
he sides with the oppressed.

If democracy is the heartbeat of our nation, Texas redistricting sent us into AFib. Hopefully California can shock our system enough to restore a healthy pulse and keep us from crashing.

If we Christians have any decency at all we will never again pretend to be morally superior to anyone else.

Jesus doesn’t call us to the left or to the right or even to the center. He calls us up to heaven, high above lesser loyalties that obscure the truth and diminish our capacity to love.

Give a man a lesson on fishing in the middle of the city where there’s no lake and no one will give him money for a fishing pole because they assume he actually wants to buy drugs oh and also the nearest lake is polluted after you rolled back 98 environmental regulations.

Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you gives them a lecture on the evils of socialism but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

If we who are Christians in America see generosity as foolishness and sacrifice as failure, we confess we have more in common with 1st Century Rome than the Christ we claim to follow.

Nothing has ever harmed Christianity so much as outspoken incurious Christians who are certain about almost everything yet loving toward almost no one.

Each week our church has been reliably giving away bags of groceries to hungry families in the neighborhood. When this administration gutted Feeding America those bags got quite a bit lighter. When this administration spent billions on ICE less families risked coming to church.

I have sat and cried with my wife after losing our own

You can demonize me for supporting women’s productive rights or you can accept that I’m a human trying to navigate our messy, complicated, heartbreaking world
