When people don’t have insurance they neglect their health until it’s an emergency. When people don’t have money to pay for emergencies hospitals care for them anyway… until of course the hospitals go bankrupt and have to close, then there just isn’t critical healthcare at all.

Today I syncopated (passed out) multiple times while flying over the Pacific. SO MANY people inconvenienced themselves to look out for my wellbeing.
Physically I’m still a little groggy but emotionally I feel nothing but gratitude. Our world is filled with Good Samaritans.

This is simply the truth, that all mankind is made in the Imago Dei, the image of God.
Also that Muslims are our neighbors, not our enemies. Though anyone can position themselves as an enemy, being a Muslim doesn't inherently make one an enemy.

If democracy is the heartbeat of our nation, Texas redistricting sent us into AFib. Hopefully California can shock our system enough to restore a healthy pulse and keep us from crashing.

Jesus doesn’t call us to the left or to the right or even to the center. He calls us up to heaven, high above lesser loyalties that obscure the truth and diminish our capacity to love.

Give a man a lesson on fishing in the middle of the city where there’s no lake and no one will give him money for a fishing pole because they assume he actually wants to buy drugs oh and also the nearest lake is polluted after you rolled back 98 environmental regulations.

If we who are Christians in America see generosity as foolishness and sacrifice as failure, we confess we have more in common with 1st Century Rome than the Christ we claim to follow.

Each week our church has been reliably giving away bags of groceries to hungry families in the neighborhood. When this administration gutted Feeding America those bags got quite a bit lighter. When this administration spent billions on ICE less families risked coming to church.
