This is a fantastic idea. #oscars
I said this on another post. You can still have the awards but tweak them. Hire people/businesses that were affected by the fire. Hire the restaurant owner and their employees to cater the event. Hire the salon owner and their employees to do hair and makeup. Honor celebrities on the ground

Tell stories of the people lost. Turn it into a giant telethon. A huge benefit. A lot of these people and people close to them have lost everything. I'd think they would be honored to use this event to help.

helping people while their own lives are burning. Honor regular people out helping. Keep the events more casual. You don't need glitz and glam. You can still honor the work that has been done on these films, and help people at the same time. Tell the stories of the businesses lost.

I hear what you guys are saying about the Oscars, and how they're a celebration of life, and the show must go on, blah-blah-blah, so-on-and-so-forth. It all makes a degree of sense, but to me it still feels like Nero fiddling while Rome burns. Or in this case, wearing fancy clothes while LA burns.

RIP Tony Slattery, who I must have watched eight million times after school when Comedy Central aired the UK version of Whose Line is it Anyway (and Kids in the Hall) during the afternoons. A truly funny man who had to endure more than any person should. www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4x0...

If you think America’s finally going to deal with global warming because L.A. is burning, think again, Boiling Point columnist Sammy Roth writes.

Dammit.

Pulling a Prime original production (at least for the 3 last seasons) from Prime is maddening.

And bad news for hypothetical future seasons.
