I’m glad to see Starmer is avoiding this obvious pitfall and keeping the decent people at BAE Systems from going hungry, and keeping our country safe from Putin should he somehow forget he’s sitting on at least 1,700 immediately launchable warheads.

…sometimes I also worry about the downsides of nuclear deterrence. What if this guarantee of mutual destruction leads us to neglect our conventional forces, and billions of taxpayer’s money is diverted from them to useless investments like infrastructure, education, or god forbid, the arts?
