Only one seat is left for a powerless and ineffective politician.

(Only one representative from the ROK President Yoon’s party voted in favor of his impeachment.)

Who’s this lone dissenter, then? He doesn’t have any influence whatsoever now, but he used to. FYI:

It feels a bit odd thinking & writing (in part) about a Korean coup in 1884 now.

Delighted to see this paper coming out! I discuss impudence, magnanimity, and more! #polysky #polisky

I didn’t know that he passed recently. Truly inspiring an artist!

I don’t know which language he first uttered such words. If it was originally in Korean, then I would translate it (imperfectly) into English as follows:

With no risk changing, we will fall.
But if we do change, we will still fall.

Student: “Do we really need to know the political situation at the time to understand the Marbury case? Wasn't the judge just interpreting the law without regard to politics, and shouldn't we just focus on interpreting the law?”

Probably not an irrelevant picture for this space.

Many long-read political theories are written by people who have lived through disastrous political realities. It is similarly true that most of the great political leaders are those who have had to live through the worst of political reality.
In all seriousness, I’ve long thought that a lot of political theorists secretly (or not so secretly!) yearn for revolution, war, and/or anarchy because then we’d seem necessary.
I always think it will be nice when my niche area of expertise breaks into the mainstream and it literally is always shitty

“Greedy merchants,
Cold philosophers,
Cunning politicians,
Conceited scientists,
Profane infidels”

All pleonastic?

I went to this store to fix my glasses. It’s a kind of place where time seems to have stopped. But it was here that I experienced rare services. People were able to accomplish their task quite well within a remarkably short amount of time.

As I was thinking about why I'm happy with my class this semester, I looked up and realized I had (at least) a partial answer: A classroom with a nice view and lots of natural light! Of course, students are brightening up the room even more.

Over the summer I moved into a new office. The biggest change is that I now have a room with good natural light. So much better!
