Not that the people who oppose arts and humanities degrees will read this (because reading is such a rip-off), but every single person I know from my BA in *Theatre* (gasp) are employed and thriving. Take all the time you need with that.
Heaven forbid that young people should ever understand their own culture

I just don't know how to talk to people who think archival research is boring like what do you MEAN–look at the ridiculous shit you can find in 1930s theatre reviews

Sighs wistfully and begins writing “The Fate of Ophelia” into a future lesson plan on Shakespeare in modern culture

Massive and wholly deserved congratulations to the team behind Benjamin Button-two years running of masterfully original new British writing winning. I’m so so pleased to see it.

Well said, Lucy ❤️✊. A true Vermonter reminding us what it means to be Green Mountain strong.
JD Vance is skiing at a Vermont resort this weekend. The resort’s snow reporter took the opportunity to make some good trouble, sending out a message of resistance against an administration “threatening our democracy, our livelihoods, our land”. [kottke.org]

This this this 💖

Stop creating a false dichtomy of STEM and the Arts!
Hey, artists, in case you were wondering if your work matters: I'm a scientist working on climate change and biodiversity, and I would not be who I am today without The Lorax, The Secret of NIMH, Watership Down, The Last Unicorn, and The X-Files. I know I'm not alone. Thank you for all you do.

So I'm staying with my grandmother for awhile and on my way up to the spare room she casually tells me, 'oh by the way the cat *really* likes that bed. She kind of thinks of it as hers.'

I fear I may be sleeping on the floor tonight.

Headlines boasting “1000+ arrests” in mass deportation efforts alongside think pieces about the 80th anniversary of Auschwitz’s liberation is a disquieting but unfortunately disturbingly fitting portrait of the world we’re living in right now.

I was so fortunate to see 125 (!!) shows this year, and despite all the heaviness in the world, seeing so much brilliant theatre keeps me afloat. So I want to celebrate that with a little top 10 shows of the year.

*limiting to new writing or significantly new productions

Moving is all fun and games (it’s not) until you finish a long day of packing, shower, and then realise you accidentally packed your hairbrush and haven’t the faintest idea what bag it’s in.

To introduce myself: theatre is my social life. Theatre is my religion. And now Theatre is my country.

I hate to harp on this but the amount of freelance jobs being advertised that want writers 'experienced in using generative AI' is so disturbing to me. Hire a writer to WRITE.

If no one cared enough to think about and create a piece, why should I care enough to consume it?
