catsincharge.co.uk. Bread maker (generally pretty artisan but tasty!), Somerset Cricket Club and general cricket fanatic, avid reader and mad about cats obviously!
Woke up this morning and checked the score on CricInfo. Thought we were all out for 70 and that the Aussies we 274/2. The day improved massively once I put my specs on!

Just watched the TNT highlights. The commentary really is bad. Makes you realise how good Sky is.

So two overnight takes from the cricket.

I'm glad I slept through most of it.

I seem to be following a lot of England supporters here on Blue Sky. Been great fun reading back and seeing the doom and gloom turning to hope!

Firmly ensconced on the sofa for the rest of the day watching the #RyderCup. Wonderful start from Europe and their team spirit looks great. Fingers crossed they can keep it up.

Must admit that has brought a tear to my eye. Well done @somersetccc.bsky.social
Jacob Lunn’s love for cricket should be celebrated — but instead, he’s faced relentless bullying 💔

With support from WPA Health Insurance, we’re standing by Jacob to show that passion for the game should be met with pride, not hate 🙌

I'm on holiday at home this week. I've given up doing all the stuff I planned to do today as there is Yorkshire v Somerset on You Tube.

Proper cricket.

Bliss. 😍

I just don't understand how the dreadful situation in Gaza is just being allowed to happen. Well done to the LDs for speaking out, our current government is just looking the other way.
The time for words is over - now we must act.

That should include the UK Government conducting a fresh set of aid airdrops over Gaza.

But I thought he was the most healthy man ever to be president.
BREAKING: Donald Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, per @PressSec. This is a condition where veins have trouble sending blood from the legs back to the heart, often due to damaged valves. This can lead to blood pooling in the legs, causing various symptoms and complications.

Desparately ill judged Strands from NYTimes today. They are a newspaper, they should be aware of what is happening in the world, particularly the USA in this instance.

Many authors use the word 'leaden' to describe grey skies. PD James, Carlos Ruiz Zafón (albeit in translation) and CJ Sansom to name just three. It's a perfect word to describe a dull, overcast sky but I don't think that it is a word people ever use in normal conversation.

Am I right or wrong? 📚👀

I'm not a luddite. I like technology stuff. I have lots of gadgets. But if I see one more thing today offering me the opportunity to use bloody AI to make everything quicker, cleverer, whatever, I fear I am going to throw everything out of the window. 😡

Something to celebrate here in sunny Devon today! 🥳
Liberal Democrats make 18 GAINS to become the largest party on Devon Council.

We've knocked the Conservatives out of control of the council.

This is a terrific tale - even for a non cricket fan. Worth a read!
This is a wonderful story from Jonathan Hall about Julian Milichamp (yes that Hall)
Please read it and share it.

Our rescue cat Ollie has a variety of lovely sleeping places - a sunny window sill, various sofas, a nice fabric footstool, a bed, and so on.

So where is he sleeping? Yup - on top of two scratching boards.

You have to love cats.

When you visit Temu and inadvertantly leave your email address there this is what happens.

I've never purchased from them but they seem keen on getting orders from me. From the comments I see some of their stuff is OK, some is quite deplorable, and some is just plain average. Lottery purchasing!

I'm a huge fan of The West Wing and have always planned to visit Washington at some point. But given that you can now be refused access to the USA based on what you've said on social media about the deranged orange lunatic I think it best that I stay away for the next four years. 🤔

While loafing around online this morning I stumbled across this recipe, now all I can think about is berry cheesecake.

Is this cake healthy? We've been trying to convince ourselves that the berries and oatmeal will counterbalance the cream cheese and sugar. We've not convinced ourselves yet.

I earlier saw Elon Musk described as the world's biggest pub bore and I've been chuckling ever since. It is just the most perfect description of him. Kudos to whoever came up with that.

Just browsing through the latest special offers on Audible. It's annoying when the special offer is book 3/4/5 and so on of a series. I want to read a series in order not all higgledy-piggledy!

I'm sure there is a reason why they do this but it escapes me.

Had a quiet day planned today. Then we popped into Aldi for a few bits and bobs. They had large red cabbages for 8 pence each. We got three.

Some hours later we had a large batch of red cabbage ready for Christmas day and the freezer too. Rewarding but really hard work!
