Enchanted April. 4 women--strangers to each other--leave gray London to share a rented house set in a beautiful Italian garden. But wait! Really! No Big Drama! Good ordinary people quietly, surprisingly, finding themselves, and others, in a film that renews one's hope for humanity.

I'm a little old lady who keeps her mind sharp by using the internet to destroy the oligarchy and the patriarchy when not gardening.

Husband and I have only raised woodsheds and a duck "palace," but other folks here in Maine do it.

It's important to learn/retain a few post-apocalyptic skills.

Bourbon for breakfast is a good thing.

What time shall I arrive?

The gardens are all tucked in for the winter. The dye garden in the photo will be enlarged in '26 as I'll have more time available. If my hubris causes the goddesses to smit me with more opportunities to earn money from teaching dyeing in '26 than in'25, I'll submit.

This is high on my list. And a good reason to learn ladderback jacquard. A couple decades ago I vowed to learn a new technique with each new project. I should get back to that vow!

I hadn't shopped at Joann's for almost a decade as the quality was noticeably diminishing--didn't realized it had been vulture capitalized.

"...people can’t lose coverage, go bankrupt, or die because they can’t afford care." Isn't that the GOP plan? Somewhere in the 900 pages of Project 2025...

It's not difficult at all. I focus more on natural dyeing & knitting. Traditionally, little kids--mostly girls--did a great amount of the spinning in many cultures. Look for a group near you and attend a gathering. Someone will happily give you a start and suggest materials & tools for beginners.

Happy to see Portland is still weird!

I'm rich! A friend has given me almost 4 pounds of beautiful wool for spinning. My spinning isn't equal to this quality, so I'm bartering with friend #2 who'll spin it and keep some in return. I'll dye mine with natural materials. And I'll knit a sweater for friend #1 with a different type of wool.

Which lead me to read the review despite the fact that philosophical conceits cause my neuro-net to collapse. As I began reading, I was reminded of my decision not to apply to grad school. After a few minutes I decided not to finish the review.
Forever jejune...

Love this piece! As a kid I was the world's fussiest eater. (My mother--raised by extremely strict people--allowed it.) The Lunch Ladies called me "Mary" which I later learned was because I looked like my aunt whom they remembered. I didn't like the food, but I liked those ladies.

I have 2 pear trees, but no partridges--we live in ruffed grouse country and they prefer to stay close to the ground--maybe I can arrange a swap.

I lived in DeLauro's district for about 20 years and continue to admire her work.

And put his picture on EBT (foodstamp cards), over the door of Head Start locations, etc. The pictures then dissolve when he does or at noon on Jan. 20, 2028.
