Great news: Cycling in London is gaining momentum.

Every day, 1.33 million journeys are made by bike in the capital—that’s an increase of 26% since 2019.

I’ll keep working hard with boroughs to make our streets even safer, encouraging more Londoners to travel on two wheels.

To achieve this, the municipality simply cut speed limits, enforcing them with an existing system of cameras.

Transport has at least 14 pathways by which it impacts our health; the majority are negative, but positive ones generally relate to supporting active travel. #transportHealth
It was a big deal when this KEY MESSAGE appeared in Scientific American. Suggested a tipping point. “We Need to Make Cities Less Car-Dependent: Reducing the need for car travel is better for health, the environment & public safety.” Via @sciam.bsky.social www.scientificamerican.com/article/we-n...

Espacios verdes para todos, en todas partes
En muchos lugares, las comunidades desfavorecidas siguen siendo excluidas de la planificación, el diseño y la gestión de los bosques urbanos. Y esto tiene que cambiar

It’s official — New York’s transit agency approves congestion pricing.

Finally.

The new $9 toll is too low, but is set to increase to the original & more strategic $15 charge by 2031 (too slow). The funds are badly needed to finance smart transit infrastructure.

If you’re REALLY trying to “solve” traffic congestion, then road widenings and more car lanes are expensive exercises in futility — unless of course your REAL goal is even more people driving more often and longer in the same or worse congestion, fuelled by a lot more suburban sprawl. #induceddemand
