NSF director Sethuraman Panchanathan, nominated by Trump in 2019, absolutely is a disgrace

He’s simply stopped paying postdoc fellow salaries until the hypothetical time that their grants are “reviewed” for consistency w Trump’s edicts

He’s canceling climate projects

Obeying in advance to the max
The dismantling of American Science continues. The Organismal Response to Climate Change grant call has been cancelled. The NSF Director is a disgrace

Reporters: Please stop calling things DEI that are not DEI. This is only cementing the propaganda being used to legitimize the dismantling of all types of initiatives that are not DEI as well as legitimize efforts to end civil rights enforcement. Be specific with your language. Be accurate.

For The Emancipator, I expanded on an argument I’ve been making on Bluesky. The so-called anti-DEI movement is segregationist, and we should state that plainly.

Eliminating DEI isn't just racist — it's segregationist
New segregationists’ need to use euphemisms shows the weakness of their intellectual position and the Civil Rights Movement’s moral clarity.

Whenever he and his team call something a "hoax" it means they're playing defensive. They know book bans are a losing issue for them. So, don't stop talking about book bans. Highlight every single book ban, all the time. We can organize and win political power by advocating for intellectual freedom.
For immediate release: The OCR will no longer investigate cases of discriminatory censorship.

The assault on NIH is a test for how the national media covers the Trump admin: Trump is shutting down medical research!

That is easy to communicate. Will they treat it as a 5 alarm fire in a way that forces the government to respond, or will they downplay & caveat it?

"The New Segregationists" is a more accurate headline.

You could go through nearly this entire article replacing "anti-DEI" with "segregationist," and it would work.

this confirms something i have long suspected, which is that certain people are told that their professional and academic failures are because of “affirmative action” or “DEI” as a way to avoid difficult conversations about their mediocrity www.wsj.com/lifestyle/ca...
