We laid my father to rest yesterday… and at the wake I offered to get some extra food and was told “may the force be with you”… and growing up Catholic the only response I had was “and also with you…” I feel like my non Catholic dad would have gotten a chuckle.. my grandmother did not.

Christmas Eve didn’t feel so Christmasy having my father moved to hospice care a day before Christmas. As Alzheimer’s inches closer to claiming my best friend for good, I woke up today feeling peace and grateful for another holiday with him (even if he doesn’t know who I am, I’ll never forget him).
