It’s always gratifying (and harrowing) to read @sarahkendzior.bsky.social. But I especially enjoy it when amidst the stark truths about our crisis she turns out passages like this:

Um, which baseball writer left Ichiro off their HOF ballot? It’s either shocking racism or “old school” stuffiness about first-year candidates that is disablingly myopic. Should lose their privilege to vote in the future.

Gemini has predictably blown up in everyones face. While I wish solidarity to the victims of this travesty, the mocking of AI and AI related products shall increase until moral improves.
I want to share my experience today with Google support, trying to get Gemini (their AI/plagiarism machine) turned off in my Google workspace account. That account is where I personally do all my work communication—I am an editor, and most of my work contracts explicitly ban any use of Generative AI

Smallpox vaccinations in the Russian Empire, 1810-1848, per the Journal of Ministry of Internal Affairs, 1851. It's not clear why there's fluctuation from year to year, but the overall trend is obviously tremendously up in a way that shows how quickly it was understood as a godsend.
