Got lucky looking up and seeing this beautiful iridescent cloud in Exeter, NH, followed by scenes from my bike ride late this afternoon in Rollinsford, NH and Berwick, ME as an isolated downpour sat almost stationary about 10-15 miles northwest of here.

Rain showers tonight (a brief period of sleet as well but no travel issues). Showers Thursday morning then mostly cloudy. Warming up through the day with afternoon temps in the 60s. Great weather for the Sox Home Opener on Friday! #7news

Last night's total lunar eclipse collage that I made for work this morning - For those fortunate enough to have clear skies overnight, a total lunar eclipse was visible. Here is the sequence as viewed from the summit, with a snapshot taken every 15 minutes throughout the event.

TL:DR Less data into a weather model (yes, even AI) makes the model less accurate.
More fallout from the indiscriminate NWS firings:

"Effective immediately, and until further notice, the [NWS] is temporarily suspending some weather balloon launches in Albany, New York, and Gray, Maine, due to a lack of Weather Forecast Office (WFO) staffing."

Annual reminder that March and April are typically filled with windy days. 🤓

This is not good….esp as southern New England heads toward severe weather season.
Scooplet: The NWS office in Boston is now down to just seven meteorologists, four fewer than are needed to run it around the clock with even minimal staffing.

These seven meteorologists will now need to perform the duties of multiple staff members at once.

What's your angle? That sun is getting higher in the sky now that we are into the month of March! Makes a world of difference on a cold day like today (versus a cold day in December). #7news

Quite cold today but we have a shot at hitting 60° later this week!

On average, Boston's first 60° Day is Feb 3rd.

Running late this year but considering this is our coldest winter in 10 years, makes sense. First 60° Day in 2015 wasn't until April 2nd!

Precipitation since early December has been close to normal but we are still carrying that huge rainfall deficit from Fall.

Thankfully, a healthy snowpack across New England (esp VT, NH, ME) will provide much needed meltwater into the watersheds next few weeks.
