You know how I know we are bad at evaluating volume status?

Because we say someone’s euvolemic then dialyze off 8 liters in 2 days and cure their hypertension.

Me on the phone with the ER because radiology is recommending avoidance of contrast on a septic ESRD patient because he only started dialysis 2 months ago:

One hot dog a day seems like a whole lot of hot dogs
“The data showed that people who ate as little as one hot dog a day when it comes to processed meats had an 11% greater risk of type 2 diabetes and a 7% increased risk of colorectal cancer than those who didn't eat any.“

There is no safe amount of processed meat to eat, according to new research
Experts reveal why even small amounts of processed meat can increase disease risks.

RFK Jr saying vaccines alter your immune system permanently.

Please please please no one tell this poor man what contracting any of these illnesses can do to your immune system.

How measles, whooping cough and worse could roar back on RFK Jr.'s watch
With anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in charge of the nation's biggest health agency, it wouldn't take much tampering to enable vaccine-preventable diseases to make a comeback.

Yes Mr LizardFish. Yes indeed.

I can’t get past the paywall but based on the comments what a joke.

We discuss this with patients all the time and many demand it. Whether that is good or bad is situationally dependent and not for me (or the New Yorker) to decide

In short the problem is simple

Trump and the Rep Party via RFK Jr blame doctors for US citizen’s chronic disease burden

When in reality the problem is the government has not created a medical system where doctors can address the root causes of chronic disease
RFK jr is now taking aim at doctors for causing chronic diseases and other issues in kids. Of course the focus is also turning to those diagnosed with ADHD and other similar conditions. "physicians who diagnose and treat children with conditions including attention-deficit/hyperactivity cont'd
RFK Jr.’s report had a surprise target: Your doctor
The commission led by the health secretary says physicians often have the wrong prescription for America’s ills.

People ask me all the time “Doc, how can I be cool?”

And the recommendation is always the same “Get a transplant or do dialysis at home until you do!”

What an absolute joke.

A joke.

People do care about you and will miss you after you’re gone

You can make an important impact in the world. Your life does matter

It’s disturbing for a doctor to feel this way about human life.

This op-ed in @nytimes.com by @pauloffit.bsky.social is an absolute must-read. In it, Dr. Offit writes, "I’m an actual vaccine skeptic. In fact, everyone who serves with me on the Food and Drug Administration’s vaccine advisory committee is a vaccine skeptic."
