Very excited to announce that our collaborative manifesto for 🌱 #PlantScience #Education has now been published! Educators from >10 countries and 30 institutions have contributed to it and we are incredibly proud of the final output. Here is a short thread 🧵1/4 doi.org/10.1002/ppp3...
A manifesto for plant science education
Plants provide oxygen, food, shelter, medicines and environmental services, without which human society could not exist. Tackling pressing and global challenges requires well-trained plant scientists....

Big trees are on the rise.

30 years of Amazon forest measurements by RAINFOR partners show that, so far, any impact of #climatechange on forests and large trees have been more than mitigated by the positive effects of increased resources.

New study from @treeswithhazel.bsky.social! Increasing UK woodland area from 13% to 19% will likely increase biogenic emissions but by avoiding exclusive planting of the very highest emitters, we can ensure that new woodlands deliver for climate + nature, whilst minimising impacts on air quality ⬇️
Increasing woodland cover to 19% to help reach net-zero could change the biogenic emissions from UK woodlands. @treeswithhazel.bsky.social’s latest research shows the potential scale of change by 2050 associated with different tree species mixes.
