Made of Golden Yew for William Waldorf Astor and planted in 1907. Based on the style of chess pieces used by Henry VIII.

today’s walk was a bit tricky … while most of it was good, for our last kilometre or so, the sidewalk was so icy. so, we stopped to look at the brook so i could unclench for a minute and throw away a poop bag, and it was pretty.
a brook in the winter, with running water and snowy banks, and bare trees on both sides.

The coots seem to hang out in the most scenic of places. There is definitely shortage of moorhens in this area. My photo has reeds and grasses and seed heads in the foreground. The coots are in the centre of the photo. In the distance very thick reeds line the bank with autumnal trees as a background. The bright blue sky, clouds and trees are reflected on the water.
