My favorite thing about roller derby is the purity of it. These kids are learning how to leap while roller skating, and have it all be 2nd nature & it's all REALLY impressive control— just for love of the thing. There's no scholarships or professional ambitions. It is its own reward. I love that.

I’m doing great all day and everything is fine, until 3 am and the Tell-Tale Colon tells me everything is not fine.

I’m going to start weaving my hand basket because I can see where our country is going.

Tonight, the Christmas Eve sitting with my family in our grief, fear and sadness turned into gratitude and happiness remembering funny memories. I left my grandpa’s place at the table empty and I’m going to do that until it doesn’t feel necessary.

The twelve days of Christmas workout at Monsoon Strength and Conditioning 2024 is done! Let the feasting begin! (And then we’ll start thinking at the 2025 derby season 😉)
