A very cool story from Dr Maj Brodmann in the Marraffini Lab (our upstairs neighbours!) that my advisor Prof Campbell and I were happy to have a small role in :)

MtvS Interacts With RNA Polymerase to Regulate the Francisella Type V-A CRISPR-Cas System
CRISPR-Cas systems endow bacteria and archaea with adaptive immunity against mobile genetic elements, playing a fundamental role in shaping microbial communities. Many organisms harbor more than one C...

There is something so beautiful about 'So I' by Charli XCX; A cis woman singing about her love and respect for a trans friend who's passed.

It really shouldn't feel remarkable, but sadly in the dehumanizing world we currently find ourselves in, it is.

KorB switching from DNA-sliding clamp to repressor mediates long-range gene silencing in a multi-drug resistance plasmid - Nature Microbiology
Structural and single-molecule analyses show the CTPase, KorB, is a sliding DNA clamp that interacts with a clamp-locking protein KorA to inhibit gene expression over distances of more than 1 kb in th...

My very first co-first paper, out right now on @naturemicrobiol.bsky.social !!

This work was much of my thesis for the past 2.5 years, where we uncovered this pesky plasmid’s elegant way of controlling and maintaining itself across Gram-negatives!
