Finally, an honest take on Oates.

Sorry, Baby (2025) Dir- Eva Victor

Yeah, this was great. An easy drama about hard things. Not light, by any means, but it carries the full weight of its subject with ease and grace. Eva Victor’s performance is completely mesmerizing. Great debut. Very excited to have Victor on my radar now.

Avant-metal rising.

We are old Paul. It's just not our theater anymore.

Can I push back a bit? Yes, that's their policy for other people, but then their staff comes-n-goes constantly, whispering to people who ordered shit. And you always know the last act is starting because they swarm in to give checks. I find Alamo to be the most distracting place to see a movie. Haha

Depends on who you're trying to kill...

I guess I was never the audience for this. I don't actually like the first two movies and I kind of think Danny Boyle sucks too. But at least he's a cheeky little monkey with weird ideas. Garland is just really boring.

Bugonia (2025) Dir- Yorgos Lanthimos

If, like me, you can watch Emma Stone do anything, especially trying to girl-boss her way out of a fucked sitch with a shaved head, then perhaps even the FUCKS IN THE THEATER WHO TALKED THROUGH THE ENTIRE MOVIE won’t ruin this awesome viewing experience for you.

Israel Palestine on Swedish TV 1958-1989 (2024)
"Israel Palestina på svensk TV 1958–1989" Dir- Göran Olsson

A 200 min movie, sprawling & granular. A history of the Israeli~Palestinian relationship exhaustively presented in meticulous chronological order. The very best film of the year so far.

The Perfect Neighbor (2025) Dir- Geeta Gandbhir

There’s a scene where we’re inserted into the lives of 4 kids on the most devastating night of their lives. It's heartbreaking. To be told the details of a racist shooting is not the same as watching the victim's children process it in the moment.

28 Years Later (2025) Dir- Danny Boyle

Does nothing to change my mind about Alex Garland. Every time I watch something written by him it’s full of intriguing ideas sketched out in the dumbest, most poorly thought out way possible and delivered with an air of hollow profundity.

Don’t Trip (2025) Dir- Alex Kugelman

This is what it’s like to be Vincent Gallo's friend. Low budget, crowd-sourced, first feature by writer/director Alex Kugelman who asked me to view it. Fred Melamed in the house! Actor Will Sennett comes out of nowhere & brings serious juice to the project.
