Sorry, Baby (2025) Dir- Eva Victor

Yeah, this was great. An easy drama about hard things. Not light, by any means, but it carries the full weight of its subject with ease and grace. Eva Victor’s performance is completely mesmerizing. Great debut. Very excited to have Victor on my radar now.

Bugonia (2025) Dir- Yorgos Lanthimos

If, like me, you can watch Emma Stone do anything, especially trying to girl-boss her way out of a fucked sitch with a shaved head, then perhaps even the FUCKS IN THE THEATER WHO TALKED THROUGH THE ENTIRE MOVIE won’t ruin this awesome viewing experience for you.

Israel Palestine on Swedish TV 1958-1989 (2024)
"Israel Palestina på svensk TV 1958–1989" Dir- Göran Olsson

A 200 min movie, sprawling & granular. A history of the Israeli~Palestinian relationship exhaustively presented in meticulous chronological order. The very best film of the year so far.

The Perfect Neighbor (2025) Dir- Geeta Gandbhir

There’s a scene where we’re inserted into the lives of 4 kids on the most devastating night of their lives. It's heartbreaking. To be told the details of a racist shooting is not the same as watching the victim's children process it in the moment.

28 Years Later (2025) Dir- Danny Boyle

Does nothing to change my mind about Alex Garland. Every time I watch something written by him it’s full of intriguing ideas sketched out in the dumbest, most poorly thought out way possible and delivered with an air of hollow profundity.

Don’t Trip (2025) Dir- Alex Kugelman

This is what it’s like to be Vincent Gallo's friend. Low budget, crowd-sourced, first feature by writer/director Alex Kugelman who asked me to view it. Fred Melamed in the house! Actor Will Sennett comes out of nowhere & brings serious juice to the project.

My cousin Carlos Quinones has passed. Carlos, his brother Jeronimo, & my uncle Adrian lived with my single mom & I throughout my childhood. These men are more like fathers than cousins. Only Jeronimo & mom are still alive. Carlos didn't have an easy life... and now it's done. Love to everyone.

Tring to photograph the full moon on your camera is like trying to pour an ocean into a bathtub.

Chief is sleeping well, safe in the knowledge that they voted for the fastest rising, most talented political star to be mayor of their city. Chief is against political ineptness, cruelty, and grift, and for compassionate politics & working class economics. The bodega cat voting bloc will be heard.

Backxwash - Only Dust Remains (2025)

Conscious Hardcore Hip Hop

Been on the Backxwash tip since 2021 & I just love it when they drop new stuff. This feels less combative than previous work but it's still satisfyingly angry. Zambian born Canadian out here raging. One of the best albums of the year

Gwenifer Raymond - Last Night I Heard the Dog Star Bark (2025)

American Primitivism Folk

Dude, so beautiful. Incredible guitar technique. Like classical music if it descended from the Ozarks. Ambient, aerial, it sounds like if the weather played guitar & love a touch of the twang. Really dreamy.

Björk - Homogenic (1997)

Electronic Chamber Art Pop

Vespertine is still my fav, but I love this album & have had a hankerin' to spin up again for a while. I'm at 6+ hours in this year, & will still probably listen to it a few more times. An absolute peak psycho~emotional electronic opera of a work

Ring (1998) リング Dir- Hideo Nakata

Pissed off psychic ghost gets all hung up on physical media. We thought all she needed was a hug, but I guess not (that scene, the hug at the bottom of the well...so, so good). Swings between genius & genius camp, looks fantastic and has strong liminal vibes.

Dead Ringers (1988) Dir- David Cronenberg

Greatest movie about men running women’s healthcare in America ever? Destroying yourself just to get away from your brother, only to end up destroying your brother... & so, also, yourself. Jeremy Irons does a great job working off of Jeremy Irons.

Listening to Circuit des Yeux. Waiting for the train.

Crazy big synth pop album. Making for an epic and cinematic trek across the West Side.
