Agreed. Though it doesn't seem like their efforts had a significant electoral effect, their breed of disinformation threatens to undermine the ambition we need to see from Labor.

We need to discredit and counter these groups if we're going to overcome resistance and hit targets.

I think we need to challenge politicians who pull out the old "1 in a century event" while downplaying/denying climate change and reversing progress.

I had an anti renewables pro nuclear community member suggest exactly this.
When prodded, they explained that nuclear energy did away with transmission and was sent from the power station to their home via the nucleus.
Sounds exciting!

I've been going though the same experience and it's really not fun.
I'd steer away from directly confronting him on broad issues though lest you risk further isolation and burrowing in.
