Those profiting from industries driving the climate crisis try to convince policy makers & public that (i)experts can’t agree, and (ii)policies addressing climate change are unpopular.

Neither is true.

It's well documented that people often underestimate how much others care about climate change. In our new paper, we show 2024 UN Environment Assembly attendees underestimate global willingness to contribute 1% of income to climate action by nearly half (37% vs. 69%).

As I think about a friend whose family lost their LA home yesterday, I feel anger at those who, as usual, insist that "now is not the time to talk about climate change" because it "politicizes" suffering. If we want to save lives, we must address climate change.
